Membership or hourly?
The math.
Hourly is the right answer for a lot of people, which is why we send them to Peerspace. Here is exactly where the line is.
The two ways to pay
Hourly is self-serve. Each room has its own Peerspace listing: the Loft, our open production room, is $45 an hour, and the Set House, the four-set room, is $85. You book it, pay there, and it is confirmed on the spot. Half and full days are cheaper per hour on the listing.
Membership is month to month, no contract, and gives you up to four hours a day, every day, first come first served, with the house lighting included. Creator is $250 for the Loft. Four-Set is $300 for the Set House. All-Access is $350 for both.
Where the line is
| Plan | Per month | Hourly equivalent | Pays for itself after |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator | $250 | The Loft at $45 | Under 6 hours |
| Four-Set | $300 | The Set House at $85 | Under 4 hours |
| All-Access | $350 | Both rooms, at $85 for the Set House | Under 5 hours |
Read the last column as hours per month. If you shoot in the Set House more than one afternoon a month, membership is already cheaper. If you shoot in the Loft once a month for a few hours, stay hourly and we will say the same thing to your face on the tour.
What membership changes besides the bill
- No booking math. A reshoot is tomorrow, not another invoice.
- Lights you do not own. Stands and modifiers stay in the room. Thousands of dollars you do not buy, store or carry.
- Your own clients. Bring paid work. It is your studio for the month, not a shared desk with a light on it.
- 24/7 access. Members get the door code. Hourly bookings run on the listing's calendar.
Who should stay hourly
Anyone shooting once a month or less. Anyone who needs the room for a single event or a one-off campaign. Anyone trying the studio for the first time, because the hourly booking is the cheapest way to see whether the rooms suit your work. For those, the Peerspace listings are on the how to book page, and nobody from Holy Cow needs to be involved.
If you are past that, book a free weekday tour on the rates and membership page and we will walk both rooms and pick the plan with you.
Questions people ask.
How many hours a month do I need to shoot for membership to be worth it?
Is there a contract?
Can I book hourly without talking to anyone?
